This year, Nilgiri’s celebrates 28 years of welcoming our community to the table – a journey shaped by family, friendship, hospitality and a shared love of bringing people together through food. To mark this milestone, we are delighted to launch three special Anniversary Wine Dinners, partnering with some of Australia’s most distinctive family wineries.
Our first celebration with Bloodwood Wines, the pioneering family-owned winery established by Rhonda and Stephen Doyle in Orange, New South Wales, was a huge success, supoorted by our wine-loving regulars!!
On Wednesday, 29 July, we welcome one of Australia’s most respected winemaking families, Clonakilla, represented by third generation winemaker Aodhan Kirk. Clonakilla is part of the prestigious Australia’s First Families of Wine & are renowned for their elegant cool-climate wines. Clonakilla has earned an international reputation for its Shiraz Viognier, Riesling and Viognier. Their flagship Shiraz Viognier has received an outstanding 99-point rating and is regarded as one of Australia’s greatest wines. In John Kirk’s own words:
“You have to have the passion to persevere. In a way it proceeded poetically.
If the land were to speak to us through wine, what would it say?
The only answer is to take a glass of Clonakilla Shiraz Viognier,
and the answer is there in the glass”
Join Aodhan as he shares the stories behind these exceptional wines to pair with Ajoy’s Tasting Menu inspired by the bold, aromatic cuisines of Malvan and Kolhapur on India’s west coast. Richly spiced yet beautifully balanced, these regional dishes will be thoughtfully paired with Clonakilla Wines by John Clancy, one of Australia’s most acclaimed sommeliers, whose decades of experience and deep understanding of both wine and Ajoy’s cooking promise an evening of exceptional harmony.
